Rental Affordability Act
June 25, 2020 @ 7:05 PM PDT
The Campaign to pass the Rental Affordability Act held this Access Live event to open the dialogue about racism, housing, and rent control. Hosts began the call by explaining why arguments against rent control, such as that it creates gentrification and that it is bad for single family home owners, are not valid. The housing crisis harms people of color in particular, worse than others. Other topics of discussion included the need to ensure people do not end up on the streets, the need for more protections for renters (for not being priced out of their homes, their communities, or the state), and how to facilitate home ownership for people of color.
