The event also featured Dr. Garen Wintemute, Director of Violence Prevention Research Program at UC-Davis Health and Nancy Magee, Superintendent of Schools for San Mateo County who addressed gun violence in the United States. The experts discussed training school staff around threat assessment, mental health, and universal background checks. Congresswoman Speier also answered participant’s questions on protecting current gun owner rights, gun insurance, and mass shootings.
