Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP hosted this Access Live event to discuss digital inclusion for older adults and how seniors stay connected through technology. This event featured Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran, San Antonio, District 3; Gavin Nichols, Senior Program Manager, San Antonio Area Foundation; Darryl Greer, San Antonio Program Lead, Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP; and Yolanda Perez, Human Services Administrator, Department of Human Services, Senior Services Division. The hosts discussed the challenges of digital services for older adults such as affordability, unreliable connections, access to devices, and lack of education on how to use these devices. Participants asked questions regarding in-person education for seniors, hybrid models of communication, how to assist family members, and where to find resources for older adults looking to connect digitally.
