The NAACP hosted this Community Phonecast to discuss the worldwide display of outrage in response to police brutality against black bodies and persistent racism in our country. This event featured former Vice President and current Presidential candidate, Joe Biden, and Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, representing Ohio’s 11th congressional district. Biden opened the call by discussing his plans to support the black community, including police reform and creating objective ways to assess departments to ensure transparency. Congresswoman Fudge discussed the Justice and Policing Act and the uphill battle of taking it to Senate. Callers asked questions about racism in the judicial system, supporting black owned businesses, and community development.
