The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the American Heart Association (AHA) hosted this third in a series groundbreaking collaborative initiative Know Diabetes by Heart™. The event entitled “Managing Patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension” featured ADA Director of Medical Information Matt Peterson, Keith Ferdinand, MD, Professor of Medicine at the Tulane University School of Medicine, and Associate Director of the Kidney Research Institute Dr. Ian de Boer. The doctors provided both the ADA and AHA classifications and treatment recommendations for hypertension as well as the key lifestyle interventions to prevent heart disease such as diet, exercise, and weight loss.
