About

Jefferson County hosted this live, interactive Vekeo event to discuss both the budget process and the Slash program with participants, as well as listen to questions and comments from residents. County Commissioners Libby Szabo (District 1), Donald Rosier (District 3), and Casey Tighe (District 2) joined the call to answer questions and provide participants with updates. Commissioner Tighe shared with participants that the 2017 budget proposes a 4.9% increase from 2016, and also stated that property taxes make up the largest part of the county's revenues, but these taxes only represent 25% or less of the homeowner's total tax bill. Commissioner Rosier provided updates on the Slash program, which is a program to mitigate wildfires by allowing residents to dispose of natural debris, such as tree limbs and pine needles. Participants were able to ask questions live of the County Commissioners and addressed issues such as aging in place, recycling, and traffic safety.
