Congressman Andy Harris, representing the First District of Maryland, held this event to hear the concerns of his constituents. Congressman Harris opened the call by addressing health care and his belief that with the repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act, there will not be a mandate that everyone must carry insurance. Congressman Harris spoke about Health Savings Accounts (HSA) which is a tax-advantaged medical savings account available to taxpayers in the United States who are enrolled in a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) and are not subject to federal income tax at the time of deposit. Congressman Harris answered a question whether those who have come to the United States illegally with a valid driver’s license can vote. Congressman Harris suspects this may have occurred due to the lack of supervision. Congressman Harris strongly believes that if you have entered the United States illegally, you should not have the right to vote. Congressman Harris also discussed his support for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos; he feels creating competition in schools will improve the education system.
