About

Dr. Bruce Yankner, a genetics and neurology professor at Harvard, will discuss a study he led which found that Alzheimer’s patients have significantly less of a protein called the repressor element 1-silencing transcription factor (or REST protein). The study found that this protein exists in high levels during normal aging, but drops to lower levels in patients with Alzheimer’s and may help explain why some people have amyloid plaques but do not experience dementia. Dr. Yankner will be joining us to discuss his study and take your questions during our next Alzheimer’s Talks on Tuesday, July 29, from 1 – 2 p.m.(EST).
