AARP Wyoming hosted this Access Live event to address fraud and scams in the Cowboy State. The event, moderated by Bob Beck of Wyoming Public Radio, featured AARP Wyoming State Director Sam Shumway, Ben Burningham of The Wyoming Attorney General’s Office, Jane Carlson of Wyoming’s Adult Protective Services, and US Attorney Mark Klaassen. Guest speakers began the call by explaining their department’s roles in helping victims of scams and advised participants to independently verify sources to protect themselves from fraud. Specific topics discussed include avoiding cell phone and email scams, how to report fraud, and why prevention is the best defense.
