About

AARP Wisconsin held this Access Live event to help participants learn how to spot and avoid scams so they can protect themselves and their families. Joining the call was renowned cyber-security and fraud prevention expert, Frank Abagnale. Between the ages of 16 and 21, Frank posed as an airline pilot, an attorney, a doctor, and cashed millions in fraudulent checks; he got caught, and has spent the last 40 years working with the FBI. Frank Abaganle and Sam Wilson (AARP Wisconsin State Director), listened to participants’ stories, answered their questions, and gave many tips for avoiding scams including watching for red flags, contacting your state Attorney General, freezing your credit, using credit cards rather than debit cards, notifying your bank within thirty days of any unusual activity, and utilizing the AARP Fraud Watch Network as a helpful and informative resource.
