AARP Virginia hosted this live, interactive event to discuss brain health. AARP Virginia Associate State Director David DeBiasi joined special guest speakers Dr. Majid Fotuhi and Dr. Jacobo Mintzer to share important information regarding this topic. Dr. Majid Fotuhi, director of the NeuroGrow Brain Fitness Center, shared with participants ways that meditation can benefit the brain's hippocampus, such as reducing cortisol levels. Dr. Jacobo Mintzer, Executive Director the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Roper St. Francis Clinical Biotechnology Research Institute, advised participants of the types of foods they should eat and avoid in order to support brain health. Participants were able to ask questions live of the guest speakers, and discussed topics such as supplements for brain health, chemotherapy as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease, and attention span problems in adults.
