About

AARP Tennessee hosted this Access Live event to discuss disaster preparedness. This event featured Dr. Sarah Breaszeale from the American Red Cross Mid-South Chapter, who noted that natural disasters can happen any time and there are important things to remember to be prepared for these events. Dr. Breaszeale suggested having a 3-day supply of non-perishable food, water, and medications. It is recommended to have 1 gallon of water per person, per day stored for emergencies, along with flashlights, batteries, cell phones, chargers, emergency contact lists, and a weather radio. They also reminded participants to plan for pets, if applicable, and to regularly test smoke alarms.
