AARP hosted this live event to address the proposed Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) electric utility rate increase. The electric and gas company is asking for a rate increase of $92.5 million. Because energy costs are regulated, OG&E must get approval from the state via the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) and AARP encouraged customers to contact the OCC to voice opposition. AARP is the leading voice for the residential electric utility customer in the state and provides them with ways to raise their voice before these companies can raise their rates. The call featured AARP Oklahoma State Director Sean Voskuhl and AARP Utility Attorney Deborah Thompson who provided specifics of the case as well as important resource information.
