AARP Nebraska hosted this Access Live event to discuss the ongoing fight against the Coronavirus. The event featured Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Mark Rupp, who provided members with an update on the COVID-19 virus, vaccines and information on booster shots. Dr. Rupp also discussed the Delta variant, stating that it is twice as transmissible and explained how it affects people differently based upon vaccination status and mutations. Participants inquired about the need to be a booster shot for each new variant, if hydroxychloroquine and zinc help against the virus, and when children under age 12 will be able to receive the vaccination.
