AARP Minnesota held this Telephone Townhall to discuss pandemic impacts on older workers and what the Minnesota state legislature is doing to address these issues. Topics of discussion included an inability to care for loved ones, unemployment rates for those over 55 and discrimination against seniors entering the workforce. Guest speakers Dr. Kate Schaefers, Volunteer State President, AARP Minnesota, and Mary Jo George, Associate State Director for Advocacy, AARP Minnesota, fielded questions regarding ageism in the workplace, financial impact of layoffs and paid family leave.
