AARP held a live, interactive Vekeo event for their members in Idaho with guest speakers Attorney General Lawrence Wasden, and Chief of Consumer and Protection Brett DeLange to discuss ways to protect yourself from identity theft and fraud. The guest speakers gave examples of the most current scams that are happening like the IRS scam and Grandparent scam. The Attorney General mentioned that public education is crucially important to protecting us from scams, and it takes everyone to inform anyone in order to avoid being victims.The guest speakers mentioned that scammers are convincing because they use social media to find out things about you to be more realistic, they create a sense of urgency and try to speak to you in relevant manner.
