AARP Hawaii hosted this Access Live Event to discuss identity theft, phishing scams, and impostor scams related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This event featured: Stephen Levins, Executive Director of Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection; Michael Gee, Senior Special Agent of the United States Secret Service; and Gregg Yates, Prosecutor of the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office in Hawaii. They discussed common scams seen in Hawaii and what to do if you are a victim of a scam. Participants asked questions about common COVID-19 scams, utility scams, how to protect your personal information, social media safety, mail scams, and the safety of internet supported devices.
