AARP hosted this Access Live event to discuss fraud prevention. This event featured Gerri Walsh, Senior Vice President of Investor Education at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and Lori Schock, Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy. They discussed red flags to watch for and warning signs that indicate fraud. They also addressed the importance of due diligence and provided resources for investors to do background checks before parting with any of their hard earned money. Participants asked questions regarding what to do about robocalls and what to do if you are a victim of fraud.
