About

AARP Alabama hosted this Access Live Event for their members to discuss elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This event featured: Dianne Dunning, Adult Protective Services at Alabama’s Department of Human Resources; Virginia Bell, State Ombudsman for Alabama Department of Senior Services; James Tucker, Director of Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program; and John Craft, Director of the Elder Law Clinic at Jones School of Law. Participants asked questions about helping family in other states, how to help people with dementia who may be victims of financial exploitation, and if caretakers should use a family member’s stimulus check to pay that family member’s bills and back loans.
