About

AARP Hawaii, with guest speakers Deborah Stone-Walls, Maui County Executive on Aging and State Representative Gregg Takayama, held this event to discuss help available for Hawaii Family Caregivers, their loved ones, and those planning for their own aging. Hawaii’s population is aging and family caregivers are under growing pressure to help their loved ones live independently at home. AARP Hawaii is working at the state Legislature to support family caregivers who perform after-care tasks such as medication management and wound care when a loved ones are discharged from the hospital. Representative Takayama supports helping increase resources for senior citizens to age healthfully in their homes. Deborah Stone-Walls was able to share information about government programs state-wide. The guest speakers then turned to answering questions of those in attendance.
