AARP hosted this Access Live event to talk about the role that social security benefits play in retirement planning. This event featured Kathy Stokes, Director of Fraud Prevention for the AARP Fraud Watch Network, and Robert Clark, Social Security expert and 38 year veteran of the Social Security Administration. They discussed the essential details about Social Security retirement benefits. They also explained delayed credits, spousal benefits, how benefits are calculated, and that benefits continue for life. Participants asked questions about when Social Security stops, what happens if you begin working after you start to withdraw Social Security, and if there are benefits to having one spouse withdraw earlier than the other.
